Drone FAQ
Price's
With every job being unique, please email us your requirements and we will get back to you with a quote.
As a guide, a domestic house roof inspection is typically around £250 +vat (excluding travel expenses).
Please Note: All flight operations require a pilot and trained observer. Our prices also include preflight surveys, risk assessments and flight plans
What drone do you use?
We operate a fleet of drones, and will pick the most suitable for your requirements. For operations where space and separation distances are tight, we use sub 250g drones.
If flight operations are to be conducted in open space, and a minimum separation distance off 50 meters from uninvolved people can be achieved, we can operate drones unto a take-off weight of 25KG.
Is DG-Air insured?
Yes, we are fully insured and have the necessary coverage required in accordance with Regulation (EC) No 785/2004 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 21 April 2004. This is required by the CAA for commercial drone operations in the UK
How will I receive my images/videos?
All data captured by the drone will be delivered either via WeTransfer or Dropbox. Should you require the data on a USB stick or memory card, please let us know in advance.
Images are provided as either JPEG or DNG
Video files are provided as agreed prior to flight, due to the multiple options available.
Final orthomosaic maps are delivered as GeoTIFF and JPEG file types.
Weather
When booking any job, we always pay close attention to the weather forecast. Strong winds and rain can cancel the best made plans. With this in mind, we will suggest an alternative day should the proffered day turn out to be unsuitable for flying.
How long will it take?
A typical survey or photography booking normally takes around 1.5 to 2 hours. This includes the time required to complete all paperwork prior to flying. We need to complete a visual inspection of the flying area, and have time to talk to the client regarding there requirements.
Can the client stand with the pilot/observer?
Yes, once they have received a safety brief. They must not interfere with the flight, but can talk to the observer, and view the data being captured on a second monitor.
Do we need to inform our neighbours?
We would recommend informing them prior to the flight. If needed we can pop and have a quick chat to answer any questions. If space is tight, getting permission to overfly their land might be beneficial. We would ask them to stay indoors or same location during the flight.
Do we offer video editing?
Yes, this is an additional service we offer. Should you wish for a promotional video to be produced, please let us know.
How far do we travel?
We’re based in Wincham near Northwich, Cheshire with easy access to the M6, M56 & M60. We mainly cover the North West, but have completed assignments in Scotland, Canada, Germany, Austria, Italy and Slovenija.
Do you have a licence to operate in Europe?
Yes, Phil also has an European flyer id, and Open A2 licence from EASA for drone operations up to 4KG.
What other services do you offer?
Phil has over 17 years experience as a professional photographer, and when he isn’t flying works predominantly in the automotive and auction industry, filming and photographing cars.
